Adding Camouflage Bedding to a Bedroom

Posted on April 15th, 2010 in Bedroom Furniture, Styles & Patterns | 20 Comments »

When adding a camouflage duvet set to a bedroom why only stop at this? You can create a whole camouflaged room for you (or your child) and create the feeling of being out in the wild whilst at the same time being at home and completely safe (which is essential for any bedroom since you need to be able to relax). Note that the world camouflage is also sometimes shortened to ‘camo’.

A person’s bedroom is the most valuable part of their home, and is a place that should be like a sanctuary to them (especially if they are young). As well as this, it should also be a place where they can feel comfortable and where they can express themselves. This is where camouflage bedding comes into play, since many little kids like to imagine they are in the army and that they wear camouflage uniforms.

There are several different types of camouflage bedding available these days, and camouflage bed sets can be bought in the classic green and brown colours, ‘urban’ camouflage colours, desert camouflage colours, arctic camouflage colours and more. While the classic green is the most common and the most recognized kids camouflage bedding style that you’ll see, it is worth checking out the others to see if you like those more.

When buying (or making) camouflage bedding you need to make sure that you don’t just buy a duvet cover – you should buy some pillow cases as well to complete the look. Fortunately, camouflage bedding sets are common and these include duvet covers and pillow cases (still it is always best to double check though). While they are readily available, the do not always come at the same price. Most of them can be bought for around the same price as most other kids camouflage bedding sets, but occasionally you’ll find higher quality ones that will cost a bit more. Which one you decide to go with is entirely up to you, and should be influenced by your tastes, the budget you have available and by what kinds of styles you like.

When putting camouflage bedding it is often a good idea to ‘go the whole hog’ and to try and make the whole room into a camouflaged zone. To do this you can add a series of plants, some wooden ornaments, paint the walls green (like the jungle) and the sky (i.e. the ceiling) blue.

How to Choose Fabric for Classic Home Furniture

Fabric is one of the defining points when it comes to choosing classic home furniture. You want something that is in style at the moment, but it will also still look good for several years or even decades. This can be very difficult because you want to show off your personality but at the same time you need to get an enduring style. You’ll also want to consider your actual lifestyle so that you can choose material that will hold up to kids or pets. Here are a few tips for the kind of fabric you should be looking for.

A leather fabric is almost always in style. You can use it on dining room chairs or of course a living room sofa. You may even be able to find end tables with these kinds of accents. A word of warning though, you really want to use a neutral color as well because this is what will really keep the leather looking fresh and new.

Stay pretty subtle. If you go with a very graphic fabric then of course you will be making a statement at the same time. You also run the risk of choosing something that is very trendy. You want to look for traditional stripes and floral prints. You can also just mix and match a solid colored fabric which will never really go out of fashion. This gives you a lot more design durability. Then you can just bring in different patterns on your accessories and throw pillows to add new life to your space without making a drastic design choice. You can always mix and match it with items like a contemporary dining room set to give it more of an updated style.

Elegant fabrics are almost always stylish. For instance a damask print can be quite elegant, contemporary or funky depending on how you style it. You can find these in a lot of different color choices, not just black and white. If you are going for a country classic look then you’ll want to pick up a basic toile fabric. This is a subtle fabric that just has a few simple outlines of flowers or country scenes on it. This allows you to add character to your room and at the same time it’s pretty neutral because of the white background.
